Who am I? Why did I build this website?
Hey, I am Linlin Luo from China. Three years ago, I moved to Amsterdam for my studies. One day, I came across a senior software engineer showcasing his personal website on social media. Despite having no prior experience with HTML, I decided to give it a try! Taking on challenging tasks gives me a sense of accomplishment. I believe life is an adventure, and the joy lies in tackling challenges and trying new things. Graduating in July 2024 marks an important turning point for me, and I aim to summarize my student journey through creating this website.
2002 - 2020, Shantou, China
I grew up in a coastal city near the equator where the sun shines all year round and the scenery is beautiful. COVID-19 erupted during my final year of high school. Witnessing the global loss caused by COVID-19 motivated me to study biology, hoping to prevent such tragedies in the future.
2020 - 2021, Harbin, China
In the autumn of 2020, I traveled 3000 kilometers away from my hometown to Heilongjiang, the northernmost province in China, amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. During my first semester studying biology, I realized the power of language over medicine. Language profoundly impacts people in immeasurable ways. This realization led me to pursue Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam, hoping to contribute to making the world a better place.
2021 - 2024, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Adapting to a new environment and educational system in was challenging. However, my three years of study and work in Amsterdam have helped me grow rapidly. For more details, please click on the “Education & Work” tab below or follow the links on the right to explore my journey.
2024 - , ?
Recently, I took a moment to reflect and realized that life is full of serendipity and surprises. That’s the beauty of life. Only through trying can we discover what suits us and what we truly enjoy. Where will I be next year? I don’t know yet. But I’m ready for my next adventure!
